Mental
health: a state of well-being

Mental health is defined as a state of
well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can
cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully,
and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.

The positive dimension of mental health is
stressed in WHO's definition of health as contained in its constitution:
"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and
not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
心理健康的定義,於個人層次是指一種幸福安適狀態,個體能瞭解自己的能力、可以處理一般生活壓力,在工作上有效率、有生產力,對於所屬社區/社群能夠有貢獻。
其意義包括了主觀安適(幸福感),察覺到自我效能、自主、有能力、個人智能與情緒潛能的實踐,情感幸福感(
快樂、生活滿意、生活/工作/休閒平衡;WHO,
2011)
